Beginnings…

Write a blog! They say…

OK sure… but what about?

Anything… it’s all about you/the story.

A few things go through my mind which could be “blog relevant”, and worth reading. It’s exciting. It’s petrifying. It’s challenging. It’s an opportunity. I’m not a comfortable self promoter. It’s good for me.

The beginning of a coaching journey probably started a lot earlier in life than I realise… I can’t say for certain when, but I can say for certain it’s something I naturally excel at. Helping others. Being empathetic. Driving change and growth. Seeking self awareness.

Sport - a daily thing from being old enough to run. All sports. Hockey took hold and I entered the world of performance once good enough. I challenged myself, I achieved. I stopped, and started to coach. I challenged myself, I achieved.

Life - changes occur, tempo, family, load, location, balance. A new challenge. Increased self awareness and what does the future look like now? I know for certain… it is uncertain, in a good way.

Executive coaching - the same as coaching in high performance sport. Understanding the person, the objectives, bringing trust to the table, application of skill improvements, dealing with multiple stakeholders, emotion, culture, change, leadership.

What’s my worth? Sport and the world of business align neatly. High performing individuals and team traits are consistent. My worth is bringing a natural level of trust, honesty and work ethic as well as professional experience to an ever so slightly different table.

Perhaps when reading this and deciding if coaching is right for you think about these questions?

Do I have an honest awareness of self?

How do I look beyond my current views?

What sort of leader am I or can I be?

What is going to help me grow?

It’s going to be a lot of fun!
